The 2018 Perry Gresham Lectures will be held October 26-28. The speaker/leader for this year’s event is Dr. Tom Oord, Professor of Theology at Northwest Nazarene University, and author of numerous books including “The Uncontrolling Love of God” and “The Nature of Love.”
The Friday workshop is geared to clergy and church leaders. Titled “Relentless Love: God’s Action Now and Beyond the Grave,” it focuses on why the idea of “essential kenosis” can He help us think about God’s action now and beyond the grave. Attendees will learn that God always loves and does not cause or allow suffering now or in the afterlife. This workshop runs from 10 AM until 2 PM, and includes lunch. The cost is $40, with a student rate of $20.
The Saturday workshop, which is geared to a general audience is titled: “Believing in God and Love after Tragedy, Abuse, and Suffering.” In this workshop, Ord will Oord proposes five beliefs that together provide a solution to questions of God and evil. Some of these beliefs are radical; others are comforting. Each draws from real-life stories, biblical sources, and common sense. Workshop attendees will leave with a renewed sense of God’s love for all and with tools to think and live well in response to evil. Saturday’s workshop runs from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. The cost is $15 and includes lunch.
