On June 9th we will celebrate Pentecost Sunday, one of the holiest days in the Christian year. On this day we celebrate the birth of the church and the beginning of its Spirit-empowered mission in the world. It is on this sacred day that Central Woodward will celebrate forty years of ministry in Troy. We moved into the current building on July 18, 1979, after spending fifty years at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Josephine in Detroit (our history goes back much further than that, but at the moment we want to remember life in Troy as a congregation. To help us celebrate, former pastor the Rev. Dan Kuhn and his wife Sue will be with us. We will mark the anniversary in worship and then with a special time of fellowship in the Fellowship Hall.
This is also the 34th anniversary of Pastor Bob Cornwall’s ordination to Christian ministry (June 9, 1985).
All in all this is a very special day in the life of the church. Please join us for the celebration.
