Adult Education

This ministry seeks to support the spiritual development and growth of the congregation’s adult members (age 18 and above). In that role, Adult Education provides leadership and oversight to ministries of education and spiritual formation for adults, including the selection of curriculum and the formulation and implementation of programs leading to the spiritual development of congregation’s members and participants. Areas of ministry would include adult studies and church school, as well as offering special lectureships and programs for members and the community. 

Current Offerings 

  • Going Deeper Bible Study: Study group led by John McCauslin, meets Sunday after church, from Noon to 1:00 PM. The class offers a chance for further reflection on the Biblical text from the Sunday worship service.  
  • Thursday Night Small Group Book Study: Led by Rev. Alex McCauslin and Pastor Zach, group meets Thursdays from 7:30 – 9:00 PM over Zoom. Contact the church office for information or Zoom link.  

Perry Gresham Lectures

Perry Gresham was the second pastor of Central Woodward Christian Church (1947-1953). Not only was he a highly regarded preacher, but he was also an academic. After his service as pastor at Central Woodward, Dr. Gresham went on to be the President of Bethany College, a school founded by Disciples founder Alexander Campbell. These lectures are named for Dr. Gresham because they seek to bring together his commitment to the life of the spirit and the life of the mind.
