The Wednesday afternoon Bible study, led by Pastor Bob, will begin its fall series on September 19th at 1:30 PM. We will be “dealing with Daniel.” Many of us learned the stories of Daniel in the Lion’s Den, along with the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the Fiery Furnace as children. These are the stories of faithfulness in the face of great danger. While we’ve heard these stories there is much more to Daniel than these stories. In fact, Daniel is one of the most complex books of the bible. The second half of the book is filled with dreams and visions that are difficult to decipher, but which speak to the concerns of people living under duress and wondering if God is there for them. There are 12 chapters of Daniel, so we’ll be spending twelve weeks on the book. If you want to read up on Daniel ahead of the study, you can go to Amazon and order C.L. Seow’s Daniel (Westminster Bible Companion), from WJK Books, but this isn’t necessary. We’ll just be reading the text together. So, if you want to know more about this intriguing, and at times odd, book of the Bible, join us at 1:30 in the Library on September 19.
