During the Winter/Spring months, the Pastor’s Bible Study, which meets Wednesdays at 1:30 PM will focus on Paul’s first letter to the Corinthian Church. The new series begins on January 9.
This is a most intriguing letter, because Paul deals with a church that is struggling to find its identity and deal with some rather tricky issues. You might say that this is the most dysfunctional church in the New Testament era. Clement of Rome had to write a letter at the end of the first century to deal with problems there. In other words, this is an exciting letter to read. We’ll cover everything from whether it is appropriate to get married to eating meat sacrificed to idols to the resurrection. Oh, and there is that chapter on love that fits right in the middle of Paul’s discussion of spiritual gifts.
