Holy Week 2012 will run from April 1 through April 8. It is a time of remembrance of Jesus’ last week of life on earth, running from a triumphal entry through the brutality of the cross to the glory of Easter resurrection. CWCC will be observing this holy occasion with services that lift up the key moments of this sacred journey.
- Begins with a Palm Sunday service led by the choir. Beginning with a Palm Parade by the children we share in the story that leads from the Triumphal Entry up to the Last Supper. The service features anthems, solos, duets, and trios, and narrative.
- Holy Thursday begins with a simple soup supper at 5:30 and moves at 7 into the sanctuary for a service of Holy Communion, remembering the event of the Last Supper, and then continues with a Tennebrae service that takes the congregation toward the tomb.
- Good Friday will be observed with a Community Service at First United Methodist Church of Troy (6363 Livernois Road, Troy)
- Easter Sunday begins with the Gathering at the Cross at 8:30 AM, followed by Breakfast. Easter Worship begins at 10:30 AM. The sermon for the morning is entitled “Why the Silence,” taken from Mark 16:1-8. CWCC will continue worship at 2:00 with a service at Woodward Hills Convalescent Center.
Holy Communion is observed at most services at CWCC, and the table of the Lord is always open to all who would come.
May this be a blessed Holy Week for all.
