Disciples Heritage Study — A Freedom to Believe
The monthly Disciples Heritage Study will continue on Wednesday evening, December 12, at 7:00 PM. Led by Pastor Bob Cornwall, we will continue our journey through the history, theology, and practices of the Disciples of Christ by focusing on the Disciple commitment to freedom in interpreting scripture and in the ways in which we organize ourselves.
We’ve already looked at two key elements of our history — our commitment to unity and the presence of restorationism, including a commitment to look to scripture. On this evening, as we look at this commitment to freedom, we will look both at the theological roots, but also the cultural roots that formed this priority.
Although there are biblical and theological roots, there is also the presence of the same Enlightenment movements that gave birth the newly established American nation.
